Local exhaust ventilation (LEV) is applicable where contaminants of interest are removed at or near the source, thus minimizing the opportunity for the contaminant to enter the workspace atmosphere. The basic LEV system includes an exhaust hood, ducting, a fan, and an exhaust outlet. LEV systems are used in a wide variety of settings, from laboratory hoods, commercial kitchens, foundries, and welding booths.
